In the midst of the craziness of filling out so much paper work and trying to get things notarized and certified etc. It’s good to take to time laugh! Here is a story about our little boy Parker that has spurred on lots of conversations. Yesterday we received a very large box in the mail from grandparents. The dog started to bark and Parker quickly ran down the stairs to see what he thought was his daddy coming home. To his surprise there was a very large box at the door! His response, “Mommy Mommy it’s Esther she is here hurry open the box!” All we could do was laugh! It took a little time to explain that children/people can’t be shipped in a box or purchased at Home Depot. In fact, Esther would be flying on an airplane with Mommy and Daddy to come home to meet her brothers and sisters but it will be a long time. It is hard for a three-year old mind to grasp this concept; after all she has a Christmas stocking here so why would she not be on her way.
With all that being said, it brings to our minds Jesus. You can’t put him in a box either. Jesus is much bigger than any box we could fathom. Trying to fit Him nicely inside a box to contain Him just won’t work. Jesus has a way of never staying where you put him. In a stereotype, in a boat, in a tomb--Jesus often appears in a place you never thought to look and often is missing in the place you expect him to be. This is something we have always known but through this experience of adopting our children we have seen that no matter what we think God has in store for our family we have put Him in a box and he has broken out and changed our lives in ways we could have never imagined.
Take time to let Jesus out of the box in your life – you will be BLOWN AWAY!
