In Our Hearts

With no update on our little one I am blogging with a longing heart. Things were moving so quickly and now it seems like our wait begins.  Once our paperwork is in the hands of the Haitian Government there are no emails, phone calls or anything my controlling self can do about the situation.  This is where my total dependence on God will have to take control. That being said, as we are learning about Haiti, and becoming more aware of the needs of our world. Chris and I have begun, along with 26 others, a 7 month fast or “experiment” from the book 7 by Jen Hatmaker http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6Fv_w5183g.  We are taking 7 months and identifiying 7 areas of excess in our lives. We have made seven simple choices to fight back against the modern-day diseases of greed, materialism, and overindulgence. “The poor world is begging for mercy like Bartimaus, while the rich world is asking for more favor like James and John” (J. Hatmaker).  Our goal in this “experiment” is to bring awareness within ourselves and our families about our personal excess. Learning to live simply so others can live at all. This month we have chosen only 7 foods to partake of for the month. Sounds easy huh? NOPE it’s not easy at all, but this has given us a chance to get completely uncomfortable and totally dependent on the Lord.  I don’t think this book was placed in front of us or the timing of this fast was any accident. I am confident that the Lord knew we needed to embark on this to build a strong line of communication with Him to get us through the tough times of waiting for Esther.  The sweet little girl continues to grow in our hearts as we wait for the day we get to see her face to face!

“….for such a time as this.” Esther 4:14
