I will be updating this blog daily or every few days as I
hear from Madi at COTP.
As many of you are aware there has been a severe cholera
outbreak in our orphanage 2/3 of the children (ages 4 and under) are sick in
some degree. They have set up a triage system at COTP to care for these
children around the clock, monitor them closely and report to all the adopting
families. It is very scary, as an
adopting mom to know my baby is in the “sick house” and there is nothing I can
do for her or for any of the other children there. http://childrenofthepromise.org/december-26-update/ They have reported that the staff are all
very tired and have called in requests for back up volunteers and medical
teams.
We are very pleased to announce that Madi is among one of
the volunteers that landed in Cap Haitien today to help care for the
children. Thanks to MANY of you who
donated money and sent up many prayers Madi was able to fly out last night and
will be in CAP for two weeks. She had
planned a mission trip to Haiti for June and realized there was a HUGE need for
now and while she was home on Christmas break she had the opportunity to
go. God made the rest of the details
fall into place and she is there now! Thanks so much to Mission Reagan for donating medical supplies on Christmas night in the snow for Madi to be able to take with her - what a blessing you are!https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mission-Regan/541973825819410?fref=ts
Madi being at COTP is very reassuring to me, as a mother.
She is the closest thing to me being there myself. We got the news last night that Esther was
moved into the “sick house” and placed on antibiotics and rehydration
serum. They have not started her on an
IV as of yet and we are waiting for our 12/27 update to see if she made any
improvements through the night.
Here are our prayer requests:
- Pray for Esther and all the sick children to heal from this horrible sickness
- Pray for strength and stamina from the staff and volunteers
- Pray for the family in Pittsburgh that lost their son this past week as they have had to celebrate Christmas without him and his birthday will be this week and they will have a memorial service for him next week. There are heartbroken
- Pray for me as I try to sleep and function while two of my daughters are in a third-world country and as I travel to Pittsburgh for the memorial of little Eli and support for the Hertzler family.
- Pray for Madi that she has the ability to care for these babies, for her health, for her strength and for her to have some precious sister time with Esther!
- Pray for our adoption process – we would LOVE to see a miracle happen in these next few weeks so it will be clearly obvious to those watching our process that God IS in control and DOES hear our cries and is still in the business of miracles!
Thanks to ALL of you who donated for her trip so
sacrificially and for being such amazing prayer warriors for our family! We are
BLESSED!
Peace & Love,
Tiffany
