Paint with a Purpose

paint a picture (of something):
to describe a situation in a particular way

There’s a story, no doubt fictitious, of a little girl at school painting and the teacher coming up to her and asking, “what are you painting a picture of?” – The little girl replies, “I’m painting a picture of God” – “Oh”, says the teacher, “but no one knows what God looks like”. “Well”, says the little girl, “they will do when I’ve finished.”

What an awesome privilege I had last week to experience our own “painting of God.” We got to see a group of ladies come together to paint a beautiful cross and contribute to our adoption fund. Such an easy thing to do – have fun with your friends while contributing to bringing an orphan home from a third world country.  There were spots for 40 women and ALL of them were taken!  The best part of this “God painting” is that I only had a personal connection to 5 of them.  There were 35 people in the room that I had never seen or met before. This continues to paint a picture of faith journey through this adoption.  The journey with a God who will not let us go and not walk beside us but in front us paving a way – painting our picture – even when things are not easy or comfortable.

I began with the little girl confidently painting a picture of God...of all the paintings of God there are in scripture the overriding one is that which is seen in the face of Jesus Christ – if we want to know what God is like we look at Jesus Christ. He loves us and asks us to love others and seek justice, and help those that can’t help themselves. I saw a glimpse of that this night! “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Heb. 13:16.

Donation received from Painting with a Twist!
We are so blessed to have so many people giving sacrificial to help us bring Esther home.  We still have some funds to raise, and we will press on even when it seems tough and uncomfortable to ask. We know we are doing what we are called to do and we know that our little Esther is worth EVERY minute of the uncomfortable moments we face asking others to help and waiting for paperwork to move in Haiti, and giving up control to those that seem to be inept to complete this process.

Please pray for God to move mountains to bring our sweet baby home and if you feel called to contribute either financially, through, donated items (like airline miles or items for auction), or you have other ways to contribute I am always open for suggestion.  Just know it is free to pray and that is THE best contribution you can give us!

Blessings,
Tiffany
